2. After the new CEO took over, the revenue of the company increased by 50% every quarter. If the difference in the revenue between second and third quarter after the CEO took over was 450 millions, what was the third quarter revenue?

Answer: 1350 millions

Solution: Let the revenue at the end of second quarter be x.

Revenue at the end of third quarter is x + x*50/100 = 1.5x

The difference 1.5x - x = 0.5x = 450,

Hence x=900 millions.

Revenue at the end of third quarter = 1.5x = 1.5*900 = 1350 millions.

6. A,B,C are going for a tour. They shared the expense that occurred in the tour equally. A paid for the accommodation (lodging). B spent Rs. 20000 as travel expense. C spent 30% of the overall expense for other items. If after final calculation, C paid Rs. 3300 to A and B paid Rs. 13000 to A, what was the percentage of expense towards accommodation?

Answer: 49.8% approximately.

Solution: As the expense is shared equally, one-third of expense is what B pays = 20000+13000 = Rs.33000.

Hence overall expense = 3*33000 = Rs.99000.

Amount C paid = 33000 - 3300 = 29700.

Hence amount A paid for boarding= 99000 - (amount initially paid by B and C)

= 99000 - (20000 + 29700)

= 49300.

% of accommodation expense = (49300/99000) * 100 = 49.8% approximately

7. Due to a 25% price hike in sugar price, a family is able to purchase 20kg less sugar for Rs.4400. Find the price of the sugar per kg after price hike.

Answer: None of these

Solution: Hike ratio = 25/100 = 1/4.

Hence the ratio of decrease in quantity = q * 1/(4+1) = q/5

q/5 = 20kgs.

Hence q=100kgs.

Initial price = 4400/100 = Rs.44

Price after hike = 44 * 1.25 = Rs.55.

19. In a company, 33.33% of the employees are females. Half of the females are married. One-third of the married females have children. 75% of the males in the company are married and two-third of the married males have children. Assuming no two employees are married to each other and only married can have children, what percentage of the employees do not have children?

Answer: 61.11% approx

Solution: Let the total num of employees be x. Hence num of females = x/3 and num of males = 2x/3.

Num of females not married = x/3 * 1/2 = x/6

Num of females married and not having children = x/3 * 1/2 * 2/3 = x/9

Num of males not married = 2x/3 * 1/4 = x/6

Num of males married and not having children = 2x/3 * 3/4 * 1/3 = x/6

Hence total num of employees not having children = x/6 + x/6 + x/9 + x/6 = 11x/18

Expressing in % it is 61.11% approx
