1. (REF=2884) :
How many squares are there in the following figure?

Answer: 30
Solution: Individual 1 box squares - 16
4 box squares in the corners - 4,
4 box squares in the centre - 1
4 box squares in the top, bottom, left and right = 4
9 box squares in the top - 2
9 box squares in the bottom - 2
16 box square - 1
So total = 30

2. (REF=4843) :
A scientist was researching on animal behavior in his lab. He was very interested in analyzing the behavior of bear. He travelled 1 mile in north direction and reached North Pole. There he saw a bear. He then followed the bear around 1 hr with a speed of 2km/hr in east direction. After that he travelled in south direction and reached his lab in 2 hrs. Then what is the color of the bear?
Answer: White
Solution: Bear near north pole is polar bear and is white in color. Other details are given to confuse the candidate.

3. Find the missing number of the figure from the given options

Answer: 11
Solution: Let the numbers in column 1 be x, column 2 be y and column 3 be z.
Then the logic used here is,  (x+z) / 2 = y - 2. The answer is 11

4. What is the alphabet that should be present in place of the question mark in the picture below?

Answer: J
Solution: The mathematical operations are used in order of the alphabet.
In alphabetical order, E = 5 and G = 7, So 5 + 7 = 12. The 12th letter is L.
Similarly V = 22 and L = 12, So 22 -12 = 10. The 10th letter is J.

5. Middle- earth is a fictional land inhabited by hobbits, elves, dwarves and men. The hobbits and elves are peaceful creatures that prefer slow, silent lives and appreciate nature and art. The dwarves and the men engage in physical games. The game is as follows. A tournament is one where out of the two teams that play a match, the one that loses get eliminated. The matches are played in different rounds, where in every round; half of the teams get eliminated from the tournament. If there are 10 rounds played in knock out tournament, how many matches were played?
Answer: 1023
Solution: As it took 10 rounds to decide on the winner, number of matches = 2^10 -1 = 1024 - 1 =1023 matches.

6. Choose the option that contains the numbers that will fill the empty boxes in the third figure

Answer: 4, 16
Solution: The box in the right contains the square of the number in the left box. The bottom box contains the cube of the number in the left box.

3, 9 = 3^2, 27 = 3^3
2, 4 =  2^2, 8 =  2^3
4, 16 = 4^2, 64 = 4^3

7. Find the missing number in the figure from the given options

Answer: 4
Solution: There are four sequences looking across the four squares: 3, 5, 7 in the top left corner, 9, 5, 1 in the top right, 6, 4, 2 in the bottom left and 8, 6, 4 in the bottom right.

8. Find the missing number of the figure from the given options.

Answer: 5
Solution: The product of the first row numbers gives the second row numbers.
6 * 8 = 48 ; 9 * 7 = 63.
Similarly 5 * 9 = 45 .
So 5 is the missing number

9. Find the number to replace the question mark.

Answer: 63
Solution: (left circle number + bottom circle number + 6) = Right circle number

Hence the number = 31+26+6 = 63

10. Find the missing number

Answer: 53
Solution: Let the numbers in the first row be x and numbers in the second row be y.
The logic used here is x^2 + y.
So the answer will be 7^2 + 4 = 49 + 4 = 53

11. Choose the option containing the numbers to fill the third box.
Answer: 3, 5
Solution: 2(4 * 5) + 1 = 41 ;

2(3 * 4) + 1 = 25 ;

2(3 * 5) + 1 = 31

12. Find the missing number of the figure from the given options

Answer: 11
Solution: Let the numbers in row 1 be x, row 2 be y and row 3 be z.

Then the logic used here is,

(x+y) / 7 = z

13. In a box you have 13 white marbles and 15 black marbles. You also have 28 black marbles outside the box. Remove two marbles, randomly, from the box. If they are of different colors, put the white one back in the box. If they are the same color, take them out and put a black marble back in the box. Continue this until only one marble remains in the box. What is the color of the last marble?
Answer: White
Solution: The only way for white marbles to be taken out of the box is when they are picked up in pairs (as when marbles are of different colors the white marble is put back in the box). As there are odd number of white marbles to begin with inside the box, the last marble will always be white.

14. Find the missing number represented by question mark.

Answer: 3
Solution: Let the numbers in column 1 be x, column 2 be y and column 3 be z.

Then the logic used here is, √(x+y)  = z.
So the missing number is 3

15. Find the missing number of the figure from the given options

Answer: 4
Solution: The sum of the numbers in each column is always 14.
